BK-Launch presents: Entrepreneurial Stories | Pierre Oskam & Nynke Stam

As part of the AR0131 course, Entrepreneurship in Architecture & the Built Environment, we have invited two members of the BK-Launch community to share their entrepreneurial stories and inspire our students. The lectures are open to everyone who would like to attend, enrolment in the course is not required.

Nynke Stam (founder of Studio nyst) is an AR0131 alumna. Taking on a less ‘traditional’ approach for an entrepreneurial architect, Nynke has translated her passion for design and storytelling into events and artworks for Studio nyst.

Pierre Oskam is co-founder of Urban Reef, named one of the ‘Talents of 2024’ by FD and winner of the BK-Launch Entrepreneurship Awards 2023. Urban Reef designs and creates open-ended habitats that encourage the growth and diversity of life in urban settings such as streetscapes, squares and buildings.

Join us for the Entrepreneurial Stories on Tuesday March 5th, from 14:45-16:45 in Room B at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment.

Entrepreneurial Stories: Studio Kathryn Larsen

Last week Kathryn Larsen returned to the TU Delft to share her experience as an architect and entrepreneur. Kathryn is the founder of Denmark’s first biotech architecture studio and as a alumna of our faculty, her talk was an inspiration for many students following the AR0144 course, not only the ones that are pursuing biobased ventures. This lecture is part of the inspirational lecture series Entrepreneurial Stories, where young entrepreneurs in the built environment show how their companies face today’s societal challenges. Make sure to join us next Monday, June 5th, for the next lecture of the series by Jaime Alonso, founder of Nonica.

Excursion AR0144 to de Machinist

Earlier this month, students of the MSc elective BK-Launch Studio made a visit to De Machinist. De Machinist is an historic building in the centre of Rotterdam, now home to a number of small companies, meeting rooms and a restaurant. A vibrant place, full of entrepreneurial activity! We were welcomed by the architects of MOR Studio and the team of BLOC bv, sharing the story of their companies and the experience of working from De Machinist. Hopefully, they have inspired our students to start on their projects and face them like entrepreneurs!
Thank you for having us and sharing your stories, MOR Studio & BLOC bv, we hope these lemon trees brighten up the workplace!
