Last week Kathryn Larsen returned to the TU Delft to share her experience as an architect and entrepreneur. Kathryn is the founder of Denmark’s first biotech architecture studio and as a alumna of our faculty, her talk was an inspiration for many students following the AR0144 course, not only the ones that are pursuing biobased ventures.
Earlier this month, students of the MSc elective BK-Launch Studio made a visit to De Machinist. We were welcomed by the architects of MOR Studio and the team of BLOC bv, sharing the story of their companies and the experience of working from De Machinist.
Yesterday we concluded the fourth edition of AR0131 Entrepreneurship in Architecture and the Built Environment. The students with the most inspiring pitch and most promising, relevant business idea were invited to pitch in front of the whole group. We would like to congratulate Alex Lorentz and Caroline Rosenzweig with winning best idea and best pitch! And of course thank all of the tutors in making this years edition happen !

We are looking back at a successful and inspiring week of events. We kicked-off the week with a lecture by Caro van de Venne, discussed the hot topic of Women in Entrepreneurship and closed off by granting young entrepreneurs to continue their entrepreneurial journey during the Entrepreneurship Awards. Together with Alijd van Doorn, BNA and several guest speakers, we hosted four workshops regarding the topic “How do I start my own design firm?” for a large group of ambitious students. BK-Launch is teaming up with the Capriole Foundation for an evening of celebration and discussion: the Entrepreneurship Awards 2022.
Starting of with an discussion between faculty dean Dick van Gameren and Robbert Guis, founder of Guis Architectenwerk and member of the Board at BNA, on the relation between apprentice and mentor, we will continue with the Awards Ceremony granting the most innovative start-ups with vouchers from 500 up to 30.000 euros to continue their entrepreneurial journey.
